Should auld acquaintance...

And thus ends another year. Time to put that nostalgia hat on...

Well, I hoped to be able to make a video like last year, but my parents just moved so we're in an apartment while we wait for our house to sell back home. Anyway, let's not get down about that! Time for the year's top 10!

10) My First Year Blogging - Yay blogging!! The first post came last year in December (man, I shoulda had a blog birthday or something). Here's a little All-Purpose Flour by the numbers:

-I have three subscribers on the books (although, I know there are more of you out there)
-I posted 19 entries for an average of roughly 19 days between posts (I'll try to post more frequently next year)
-The two most popular posts were "The Blind Leading the Blind" and "I'm Bored (Busy), Ep. 2"

Not high numbers by any standards, but the numbers don't mean a lot to me. I just like looking at data. Maybe I spend too much time looking at data...

9) HS Graduation - Filled with many goodbye's and stay-in-touch's, I left my school of four years. It was sad going to all the graduation parties for everyone. Luckily, I've managed to keep in touch with some close friends from HS.

8) Lip Syncing Taylor Swift - Haha this is probably both the best and the worst moment of my HS career. In short, I lip synced Taylor Swift's "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" with a couple of friends for a lip sync competition during spirit week. Read more about it here.

7) Busking - For those who don't know, busking is playing music in a public place for money... so like being a street musician. During my summer at camp, a couple friends and I spent our day off playing music in a college town nearby. It was a ton of fun, and in an hour or two of playing, we received a little over $15 which we promptly spent on burritos at Chipotle. You can see a few seconds of it in my super cut of camp moments @ 1:09:

6) Photographing the Stars - In my list of interests, astronomy is not the top, but it's up there. I always love looking up at night to admire the stars so I was really excited when my cousin invited me out to learn some astrophotography. We spent a couple hours out in an orchard with a guy who majors in photography. Read about another star-related adventure here.

5) Moving to Colorado - At the beginning of the summer, my dad accepted a new job in Colorado. The official move happened at the end of the summer when my brother and I left for college. So now, during Christmas break, we're getting to experience Colorado for the first time! We've gone skiing, indoor skydiving, and driving through the mountains. It's been quite a shock coming from the flatlands of Indiana!

4) Salvation Project - Definitely one of the bigger learning curves I had in 2013 was in spoken word. In the span of a year, I became a fan of spoken word, researched it, and did my own piece. Read more about it here.

3) College - Going to college is a duh for the list. I've learned to live on my own. I've made a ton of new friends and acquaintances. I've learned how to plan my life in general. It's been a blast going on different adventures from Walmart to Chicago.

2) Jamal - This dude was definitely the one who had the largest impact on me this year. Read more about it here.

1) Chicago - The best time I had this year was going to Chicago with my friends the day before Thanksgiving. Pretty much the best day of my life... yeah. One day, I'll make a post dedicated to that.

Anyway, that's it. Let's end this like we did last year!

Here's to a new year [now 2014]!

Best Wishes! -Richie
