Ah, the end of the week. Glorious.
Schoolwork wise, it was a so-so week. I've been learning how to study for different classes, and more importantly, how not to procrastinate. There were a couple of times I was caught off guard by quizzes because they weren't in the syllabus, but I did relatively well.
Hm... What else?
In orchestra, we've been working on Rachmaninoff's second piano concerto which is like *angelic sound* sweet tasties for my ear drums... if that makes sense... don't think to much on that. In addition to that, we're working on some music for Alumni weekend which is in two weeks. The two pieces are the soundtracks from the movies The Ten Commandments and Christopher Columbus, both of which are from like the '60s or some time around then. They're the most confusing pieces of music I've seen in a while. Those of you who understand music will understand what I'm about to say. For those who don't... learn. It'll be good for you. Okay, so the pieces don't have a time signature that encompasses the entire piece. At most, we'll have the same time signature for three measures then it changes. For example, a few measures may have the time signatures 4/4, 3/4, and 6/4. THERE IS NO SANITY HERE!! The woodwinds (I play clarinet) have lots of rests so we count out loud because it's so insane. "1-2-3, 1-2-3-4, 1-2-3, 1-2-3-4-5, 1-2-3-4" etc.
*deep breath*
Quick summary of the weather this week: It was hot, then it was not. The weather in the Midwest and I have a love-hate relationship.
This week was week of Prayer at Andrews, so we had chapel every day. It was so awesome, and the speaker was so funny. He told entertaining stories, and I wish I could remember half of them. The way he connected the stories to the lesson was just as impressive.
On Friday, I auditioned for a drama group on campus, and I'll be getting the results on Sunday or Monday! For the audition, we had to memorize a monologue from some movie I had never heard of and read a monologue from the movie 300 (which I haven't seen either). Then, as a surprise, we had to sight read a script from Pirates of the Caribbean (which I haven't seen either). For those of you about to comment "WHAT?!?!", calm down. Before the auditions, a friend and I practiced in my dorm room. We had fun using different accents. You'd be surprised to find how well a blonde-teenage-girl accent by a teenage boy sounds when used for a speech from 300. We also had fun playing around with background music. I think he actually used background music in his audition, haha.
To end the week, some of my family came for church. After lunch, we hung out at the beach, and the weather was absolutely perfect... at least on the beach. The water was so cold. I guess that's what you get from Lake Michigan in September... or any time of the year.
